As part of the course ARCH 570 Digital Fabrication, students were introduced to the concept of folding geometries.

They used 3D-modeling techniques to design their own individual face mask. The students had to Identify and set the creases, while also minimising the number of different parts required to cut and unfold the shape. Each person iterated through a number of options before reaching the optimum solution.

In order to fabricate the masks, tabs and numbers were introduced to the corresponding edges. Finally, the students had to laser cut the unfolded geometries in a foldable material and assemble the mask.
